Gup-Shup Music Awards 2024: Celebrating Musical Excellence in Assam

The Gup-Shup Music Awards (GMA) have become a highly anticipated annual event in North-East India’s music scene, showcasing and honoring the region’s diverse musical talents. Promoted by Purvy Broadcast Pvt. Ltd and organized by Radio Gup-Shup 94.3FM, the Gup-Shup Music Awards 2024 were held on January 24th, 2024. This mega event celebrated outstanding contributions and creative works within the music fraternity, making it a night to remember.

Recognizing Musical Achievements

The Gup-Shup Music Awards 2024 honored remarkable achievements in the music industry across 10 categories. Jyotimala Buragohain clinched the coveted Best Singer Award for her soulful rendition of the song “Aai.” The song “Tumale Barasha” emerged as a strong contender, securing the prestigious Best Song award. The awards also highlighted Gup-Shup’s commitment to supporting emerging talent, with the Best Debut Singer category won by the promising Arup Das.

Pallab Talukdar received accolades for Best Music Arranger for the composition “Nohoba Dur,” while the dynamic duo, Pranab Priyankush and Pallab Talukdar, were awarded Best Music Composer. Recognizing the influence of music on social media, Papon and Shreya Ghoshal claimed the Best Social Media Trending Song award for their collaboration on “Koi Nidiya Kio.” Achurjya Borpatra’s resonant track “Biya” secured the title of Most Played Song on Radio.

Pranab Priyankush Baruah’s “Haai oi” earned the Best Bihu Song award, and Manash Saikia’s poignant lyrics in “Jibone” led to his win for Best Lyricist. The Best Mix Mastering award was skillfully executed by Koustav Saikia for the song “Awjana.”

A Night of Electrifying Performances

The event witnessed electrifying performances by renowned artists such as Joy Baruah, Shankuraj Konwar, Sannidhyan Bhuyan, Bishrut Saikia, Cultivators, and Kayee. The presence of Zubeen Garg, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, added prestige to the show. Hosted by two of Assam’s heartthrobs, Deeplina Deka and Kamal Lochan, the evening was unforgettable, sparkling with the brilliance of the music industry’s best.

The winners were carefully selected by the Jury Committee, showcasing their expertise and dedication. The eligibility period for this year’s awards spanned from December 1st, 2022, to December 31st, 2023, ensuring that the best talents and works were recognized and celebrated.
